Bas-Relief – Thompson Library 1913
Finn Frolich – Signed Bas Relief of Jack London – 1913
This Bas Relief was salvaged from the Thompson Library (Main Library) at The Ohio State University. The building is currently undergoing major renovations and this item was saved prior to the construction. This must have been part of the original library which was opened in 1913. The 1913 date can be seen next to the artist’s signature. Plaster (approximately 12″ x 16 1/4″). A wire has been cast in the back of the plaque for hanging. Some minor flaking.

Finn Frolich lived in Los Angeles where he built an artists colony that still stands today. The front of his home still has a beautiful sculpture relief of one of his dearest friends, Jack London. Another one of Finn’s sculptures, also of Jack London, can be seen above the fireplace on the first floor of the House with Happy Walls Museum at Jack London State Park, just outside of Glen Ellen, CA.
