8 letters written to J. Alan Dunn and his wife Sandy Dunn.

The letters contain a rich tapestry of Charmian’s life at the ranch after Jack’s death.

J. Alan Dunn was a pulp writer. Dunn visited Jack and Charmian at the ranch in Glen Ellen several times in 1913.

Evidently, Jack was very jealous of the attention that Charmian gave to Allen. There is a passage in Charmian’s diary about this incident.

One of the letters mentions Jack’s last meal and the dietary habits that contributed to his death. “Jack hardly touched his last dinner. Which was underdone Canvasback” Jack loved rare duck! See attachment.

In a couple of the other letters Charmain is describing in detail, the cause of Jack’s death. It seems that Alan Dunn was skeptical about the cause of Jack’s death. Charmian is trying a bit too hard to convince Alan that Jack died of uremic poisoning.
